Abstract

Optimism is needed by students in working on the thesis because with optimism students can see the difficulty in working on a thesis with positive thoughts so as to provide strength for themselves in the face of difficulty working on thesis. Patience is one of the factors that can influence optimism. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between patience with optimism in students who are working on the thesis. Subjects in this study were 100 people selected by cluster sampling technique. Data collection tools in the form of Life Orientation Test-Revision (LOT-R) scale. The results of statistical analysis using Pearson product moment correlation showed r = 0.226 with a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05). This shows that there is a significant positive relationship between patience and optimism in students who are working on their thesis. That is, the higher the patience, the higher the optimism of the student. Effective contribution to patience with optimism is 5.1%, the remaining 94.9% is influenced by other variables.
