Abstract

Today the role of technology media in supporting communication in everyday life is very helpful in limiting the distance of space and time, so there is currently no limit between communican and receivers in establishing communication relationships. Various forms of tools and communication media are always developed, one of which is online-based communication media. Communication media have a certain role in a teaching and learning process at school. The media can make it easier for users or even make it difficult for users. research on the role of communication through Google Classroom online media in the learning process of multimedia majors at SMKN 3 Pekanbaru. Literature studies use theories about communication, online media and roles. As well as review of relevant previous research. In this study the authors used descriptive methods. Through a qualitative approach, the aim of the research is based primarily on efforts to observe, collect, analyze, interpret data on the role of communication through Google Classroom online media in the learning process of multimedia majors at SMKN 3 Pekanbaru. The data collection techniques used are through observation, interviews and documentation. The results obtained from the data collected is that google classroom functions as a medium of communication during distance learning, an intermediary between teacher and students in the process of providing information in teaching and learning activities, communication using google classroom becomes easier and the language used when communicating is more relaxed so students can easily do questions and answers. Not all students play an active role in google classroom. The conclusion in this study is the role of communication using google classroom is as a monitor, diseminator, spokesperson and decision maker for teachers and students in the learning and teaching process.
