Abstract
This study aims to determined the cognitive learning result of students of grade VII9 MTsN Andalan Pekanbaru by applying Inquiry Learning model in 2017/2018 academic year. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR), with descriptive analysis. This study was conducted on September 4 until October 4, 2017. The subject of this study is the students of grade VII9 of MTsN Andalan Pekanbaru with the number of students 29 men. Data collection is taken from the learning result of students in the form of absorption and learning mastery obtained from the value of Knowledge of Conceptual Understanding. Absorption of cognitive learning outcomes of students before Classroom Action Research (CAR) 58.71% increased by 14.28% in the first cycle to 73,73% and in the second cycle increased by 4,46% to 78.19%. Students classical completeness before CAR 45% in the first cycle has increased by 10.17% to 55.17% in cycle II has increased again that is 34.48% to 89.65%. This implying that there is an increased in students' cognitive learning outcomes. From the research has been concluded that the implementation of guided inquiry learning model can improving the cognitive ability of biology of students of class VII9 MTsN Andalan Pekanbaru 2017/2018 academic year.
