Abstract

Pedagogical competence is the ability of teachers to manage the learning of students. This study aimed to determine the pedagogical competence biology teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat districts Kuantan Singingi school year 2015/2016. Result of preliminary observations at SMA Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat Kuantan Singingi found that many teachers indifferent to student success and biology teachers are not gradates of the faculty of education. To determine the pedagogical competence of teacher of biology, research is conducted biology teacher pedagogical competence (case study in SMA Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat Kuantan Singingi regency school year 2015/2016). Collection of data obtained through obsevation, interviews and documentation. Based on the above results, it can be seen pedagogical abilities (1) characteristics of learners from the physical aspects, moral, social, cultural, emotional and intelectual, teacher understand students’ character, but do not understand the character of student learning, (2) mastery learning, teacher have mastered and in accordance with the expectations of students, (3) mastery learning theory educate student already in line with expectations, (4) curriculum development related subject fields of teaching has been done by the teacher, (5) utilization of information and communication technology for the sake of learning has been used and used well, (6) development of student potential to actualize various potential, teachers understand and develop the students’ potential, (7) communicate effectively, homeopathic and mannered student is still short of the expectations of students, (8) assessment and evaluation of learning out comes, teacher quite mastered, (9) utilization of the results of the assessment and evaluation for the sake of learning teacher utilize to better learning again, (10) reflective to in crease the quality of learning, according to student teachers sometimes do.
