Abstract

The result of student observation of class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Salo Kampar regency got problem such as: the result of student discus throw less satisfactory, technique of throwing also not perfect, typing do throwing, movement still stiff. The purpose of this study is to determine the contribution of arm muscle strength to the results of students' discus throw class XI SMA Negeri 1 Salo Kampar regency. This research type is correlation research. The population in this research is the 11th graders of SMA Negeri 1 Salo, which is 14 students. research sampling technique is totally sampling. Thus the number of samples in this study were 14 people. Instruments used in this research is a 1 minute push up test and disc throw test. The result of calculation of product moment correlation got value of r count equal to 0251. Value correlation index is compared with the value of r table at n = 14 or df = 12 obtained r table value of 0.532. thus r count <r table or 0.251 <0.532. this means the contribution between arm muscle strength to the result of throwing discs is not significant result. The conclusion of this research is that there is contribution of arm muscle strength to the result of throwing of student discs of 11th grade of SMA Negeri 1 Salo Kampar Regency but not significant, big percentage only 6.3%. The value of r arithmetic of 0.251 is in the range Between 0.20 to 0.40 with the relation criteria exist but low.
