Abstract

This study aimed to compare the differences of the cognitive learning outcomes of biology between a class that implementing cooperative learning Inside Outside Circle (IOC) and a class implementing cooperative learning The Power of Two by using pictures to students in the class seven at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu Academic Year 2016/2017 on the Global Warming topic. This study started from March 2017 to April 2017. This study is an experimental research which use the comparison between pre-test and post-test result design. The population of this study consists of four classes of class seven at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu. The sample were chosen based on homogenity test using pre-test result that given to the population. Two homogenous classes then randomly selected to determine the experiment X1 class and experiment X2 class, then class VII3 selected as thE experiment X1 class which implementing cooperative learning Inside Outside Circle (IOC) by using pictures and class VII 2 as the experiment X2 class which implementing cooperative learning The Power of Two by using pictures. Student learning outcomes data were analyzed by using t-test. Based on t-test data analysis, known that tcount > t table, 19,56 > 2,04, with level α 5% = 0,05, based on the descriptive data analysis, known that the average of students cognate result in class experiment X1 (VII3) =82,21 and class experiment X2(VII2) = 81,17. Which means there are differences of student learning outcomes in biology between the two classes. So it can be concluded that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.
