Abstract
This research is about students' perceptions of using Edmodo in the writing news report. This study aims to find out about the opinions of fifth semester students of English language education FKIP Universitas Islam Riau about the use and the advantages Edmodo as a medium in learning English. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The participants in this study were 25 students of class 5c. The research instruments used by the researcher were questionnaire and interview. Analysis of data from this study using a Likert scale and the researcher explained the results of the Likert scale in descriptive form. Results from questionnaires and interviews showed that students had a positive response to the use of Edmodo in the news report writing class. Therefore, students have a positive perspective on the use of Edmodo and are very helpful to them. Besides that they also get some benefits from using Edmodo such as: it's easier to communicate with teachers and friends, it's easier to collect assignments, and they can also see the scores given by the teacher in Edmodo. And the disadvantages of Edmodo was If a student does not have access to computer and the internet, or a mobile device they would not be able to use the tool.
