Abstract
The low emotional intelligence of students is a problem that must be considered by teachers and education stakeholders because students are not only required to be intelligent in intellectual, but must be intelligent in emotional. This is because emotional intelligence is a benchmark for education graduates and educational goals. In Siak Hulu State Senior High School 2 there are some students who have low emotional intelligence, this needs to be updated and a solution is sought. Contextual Teaching and Learning Strategy is one learning strategy that can encourage students to have good emotional intelligence, be able to communicate well, empathize with each other, and be able to socialize well in order to establish good relationships with fellow friends. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy can improve the emotional intelligence of students in the field of Islamic education in class XI IPA 3 at SMA Negeri 2 Siak Hulu, Kampar Regency. This study aims to determine the application of the strategy of Contextual Teaching and Learning can improve the emotional intelligence of students in the field of Islamic education in class XI IPA 3 at SMA Negeri 2 Siak Hulu, Kampar Regency. Based on the data obtained from the field it can be seen that students' emotional intelligence before using the strategy is in the low category with a percentage of 37%. After using the CTL strategy in the first cycle, emotional intelligence has increased, namely in the high category with a percentage of 71%. Then the researcher continued with the second cycle of students' emotional intelligence which increased in the very high category with a percentage of 88%. After being analyzed, this research can be seen that the emotional intelligence of students applying the CTL strategy has increased from the initial condition which is low with a percentage of 37%, the first cycle is high with a percentage of 71%, and the second cycle is very high with a percentage of 88%. So this study can be concluded that the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning strategy can increase the emotional intelligence of students in class XI IPA 3 of Siak Hulu 2 State Senior High Schools in Kampar Regency in the "very high" category. This can be seen from the percentage of 88%.
