Abstract
This research has been carried out from october to november 2017 and implemented in MTs Darul Mujjahidin Rokan Hulu Regency for the academic year 2017/2018 with the aim to improve cognitive ability of biology of grade VIII.A students in MTs Darul Mujjahidin Rokan Hulu District 2017/2018 through the application of lecture methods. The subjects of the study were students of class VIII.A MTs Darul Mujjahidin Rokan Hulu Regency for the academic year 2017/2018 with a total of 22 students consisting of 10 men and 12 women. Technique Data collection is done by using LKPD, Block Exam, Homework and Quiz. The method used in this research is classroom action research. Instruments in this study are cognitive assessment. Data analysis technique in this research use descriptive. Based on the results of the research, obtained the conclusion that the lecture method can improve students' learning outcomes Biology grade VIII.A students MTs Darul Mujjahidin District School Year 2017/2018.
