Abstract

Adolescence is the time to seek their identity, and they are still not able to master and function maximally physical and psychological functions, this study aims to find out the constructionof teen self image about the meaning of beautiful through self image in Instagram. To know the self image in the wake up by teenagers about the meaning of beauty through the activities of self portrait in Instagram, research using the theory of symbolic interaction. This research using qualitative methods, because this method can describe, explain, and build relationships of categories and data found in this study are six teenagers who like self portrait and six as additional informants to strengthen this research using informants. To strengthen this research using observation techniques, interviews and documentation. Analytical techniques used by researchers are based on the thoughts of informants interprted beautiful based on outer beauty based on self, informants form a negative self image, lack of from a negative self image, lack of confidence, and asikan community, informants have a high level of absession in doing self portrait.
