Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the levels of efficiency in sharia and conventional general insurance in Indonesia. Efficiency is a measure of success assessed in terms of the source or cost to achieve the outcomes of the activities performed. To measure the efficiency by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, which is using Constant Return To Scale (CRS) and Variabel Return to Scale (VRS) assumption. The input variable used was the assets, expenses, and payment claims. The output variable used was premmi netto and return on investment. The object being sampled is Sharia General Insurance PT. Chubb Syariah (Jaya Proteksi Takaful) and Conventional General Insurance PT. Artarindo with completeness of financial report 2012-2016. The result showed that which is using Constant Return To Scale (CRS) assumption average score of Conventional General Insurance more efficient than Sharia General Insurance and Variabel Return to Scale (VRS) assumption show Sharia General Insurance more efficient than Conventional General Insurance.
