Abstract

Marijuana abuse in the jurisdiction of the Lima Puluh Kota Police Department is a social phenomenon influenced by social environment, economic conditions, low understanding of the dangers of narcotics, and weak legal awareness. Addressing it requires not only law enforcement but also a criminological understanding of the underlying root causes. This research will address the following key issues: What factors contribute to marijuana abuse in the jurisdiction of the Lima Puluh Kota Police Department, and what steps law enforcement officials are taking to address marijuana abuse in the jurisdiction. The purpose of this research is to determine the results of the research problem formulation. This legal research employs a survey (observational research). This method aims to examine legal issues that arise in practice by collecting field data, classifying and processing the data, and then analyzing it to examine the reality of legal implementation in society, thus obtaining a comprehensive picture and comprehensive research results. The results of this study indicate that marijuana abuse in the Lima Puluh Kota Police jurisdiction is influenced by social and economic environmental factors, low understanding of the dangers of narcotics, and weak legal awareness. The prevention effort is carried out through an integrated preventive, repressive, and rehabilitative approach. These findings indicate that law enforcement requires support from the community and strengthening social control for effective and sustainable prevention efforts.
