Abstract
The utilization of lowland rice production by farmers in Tambang Subdistrict is quite diverse; however, the specific purposes of its use have not yet been fully identified. This study aims to analyze (1) the characteristics of farmers and the profile of lowland rice farming in Tambang Subdistrict. (2) the forms of rice production utilization by farmers, including for seed, household consumption, storage, marketing, and other uses. (3) the proportion of rice production allocated for each utilization category and. (4) the factors influencing farmers’ decisions in determining the use of their rice production. This research employed a survey method conducted in Tambang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, from January to June 2025. The sample was selected using proportional stratified random sampling, totaling 45 farmers. The data used consisted of both primary and secondary data. Data were analyzed descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively, and further examined using the Chi-Square (X²) analysis. The results show that: (1) Farmers are within the productive age range of 49–54 years, have a senior high school education level, possess more than 13 years of farming experience, and have household sizes of 4–5 members. The cultivated land area is less than 0.5 ha, the rice variety commonly used is Sai’a, the land ownership status is predominantly self-owned, the cultivation system applied is the jajar legowo system, and the primary source of capital is self-financed. (2) The identification of rice production utilization indicates that the most common primary utilization pattern is storage (32 farmers), followed by marketing (7 farmers) and household consumption (6 farmers). No farmers primarily used their rice production for seed purposes. (3) The proportion of rice production allocated for storage is 47.02%, household consumption 32.34%, marketing 17.88%, and seed use 2.76%. (4) Level of education does not significantly affect the use of rice production. Land area significantly affects (strong relationship) the use of rice production, while the number of family members shows a significant relationship (moderate relationship) with the use of rice production
