Abstract
Kampar Regency is one of the major rice-producing regions that plays a crucial role in supporting regional food security. However, the use of production factors in rice farming has not yet been fully optimized, which has the potential to reduce production levels and farmers’ income. This study aims to analyze: (1) farmer characteristics and farm profiles, (2) production factors, costs, production, income, and rice farming efficiency, (3) dominant factors influencing rice production, and (4) technical, allocative, and economic efficiency. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with a survey approach. Research locations were determined using purposive sampling, while respondents were selected using random sampling, involving 126 farmers. This study was conducted over a period of 6 months, from February 2025 to July 2025. The data collected consisted of primary data. Data analysis was performed using the CobbDouglas production function to identify the factors influencing production, as well as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to measure the levels of technical, allocative, and economic efficiency. Research findings in Kampar Regency indicate that (1) rice farmers in Kampar Regency are predominantly of diverse ages—ranging from 30 to 74 years old—with an average of 12 years of education, 13 years of farming experience, and an average of three family dependents. The farming profile indicates an average land area of (0.5–1 ha), with high-yielding rice varieties used by (42.86%) while non-high-yielding local varieties account for (57.14%); land ownership status is self-owned (74.60%), while leased land accounts for (25.40%); (2) production factors, costs, production, income, and rice farming efficiency, namely: average rice seed usage (41.95 kg/plot/MT), urea fertilizer usage (18.62 kg), NPK (19.10 kg), TSP (3.21 kg), KCl (3.89) kg, and the pesticides used: Spontan (144 ml), Decis (243.06 ml), Lindomin (700 ml), and Rodenticide (6,336 ml). Total production costs amounted to Rp. 5,447,389, with net income of Rp. 7,282,955. The R/C ratio was 2.41, indicating that rice farming is profitable and worth pursuing. (3) Production factors have a significant impact on rice production; specifically, only the harvested area and NPK fertilizer have a significant effect. (4) The efficiency analysis indicates that farmers have not yet utilized optimal production factors to achieve maximum profit; therefore, these farmers should increase their use of production factors.
