Abstract

General elections are held once every five years to elect candidates for Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD). To ensure the elections run smoothly and in accordance with the principles of direct, free, secret, honest, and fair elections, the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) conducts comprehensive oversight of all stages of the election. However, prevention efforts are not fully effective in every sub-district in Kampar Regency, and some DPRD candidates still commit fraud during the democratic process. These fraudulent acts violate the provisions stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections and General Elections Commission Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Stages and Schedule for the Implementation of the 2024 Elections. The formulation of the main research problem raised by the author is the Role of Bawaslu in Preventing Money Politics Practices in the 2024 Legislative Elections in Kampar Regency and Bawaslu's Obstacles in Preventing Money Politics Practices in the 2024 Legislative Elections in Kampar Regency. The research conducted is empirical because the author obtained data based on the results of research conducted directly at the research location. The nature of the research conducted is qualitative sociological, namely research conducted by going directly to the field to determine the forms and obstacles faced by Bawaslu in preventing the General Election for prospective members of the Kampar Regency DPRD in 2024. The author uses data collection to collect data with data instruments obtained from interviews, observations, and library books. The author in drawing conclusions uses a deductive method by taking a problem from the specific to the general. Bawaslu's role in preventing the practice of money politics in the 2024 legislative elections in Kampar Regency is by carrying out preventive efforts, namely efforts made to prevent election violations during the 2024 elections in Kampar Regency and repressive efforts made to carry out every report from the public regarding indications of fraud in the 2024 elections in Kampar Regency. The obstacles faced by Bawaslu in preventing the practice of money politics in the 2024 legislative elections in Kampar Regency are limited resources and supporting facilities. Efforts to overcome this can be done through several steps, including: increasing the number and capacity of Kampar Regency Bawaslu human resources, strengthening coordination with law enforcement officers, increasing the budget and adequate operational facilities, utilizing information technology, and implementing an integrated monitoring system in Kampar Regency Bawaslu.
