Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology encourages universities to provide information media that are more interactive, engaging, and easily accessible to prospective students. This research aims to develop a web-based virtual tour system for the facilities of the Islamic University of Riau using 360° panoramic technology as a modern, dynamic, and accessible campus introduction medium. The system was developed using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which consists of six stages: concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. Data were collected through 360° panoramic photo documentation using a 360° camera and direct observation of various campus facilities, including the rectorate building, library, mosque, laboratories, stadium, and sports hall. The result of this research is a virtual tour website that allows users to explore campus facilities interactively. Each panorama point is equipped with navigation hotspots, facility descriptions, responsive display features, and integration with supporting information such as location and accessibility. System testing using the black-box method showed that all functions operated according to requirements, including location transitions, panorama loading, and user interface display. Furthermore, user evaluation conducted through a questionnaire resulted in a satisfaction level of 85.52%, categorized as “Very Good/Strongly Agree.” These findings indicate that the developed virtual tour website is effective as a campus introduction medium for prospective students.
