Abstract
FWU Field is an old field that has passed the primary recovery and secondary recovery stages. Secondary recovery in FWU Field is no longer able to effectively push out oil, resulting in a drastic decline in oil production every year. Therefore, the next stage of production, namely tertiary recovery, is required. For FWU Field, a screening criteria was conducted, and CO2-EOR was found suitable for the field. Additionally, based on its geographical location, FWU Field is close to a company that captures CO2. However, the application of this technology faces significant economic challenges due to the high investment required (CAPEX) for building CO2 injection, transportation, and compression facilities, as well as operational costs (OPEX) for long-term maintenance and monitoring. Thus, this research conducts an economic analysis to evaluate the feasibility of this technology. This study uses a cash flow method with a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Cost Recovery scheme, which is considered most suitable for high-risk, high-cost projects like CO2-EOR. The results of the PSC Cost Recovery contract calculations show an NPV of USD 10,222,079, an IRR of 56%, a POT of 0.10 years, and a PI of 2.02 USD. From the analysis, oil price and oil production are the most influential parameters on the economic indicators: NPV, IRR, POT, and PI. Based on the calculations of the economic indicators, CO2-EOR is economically feasible because its NPV is positive, the IRR exceeds the MARR of 15%, the POT is below the production life, and the PI is above 1.
