Abstract

This study aims to analyze preventive and repressive efforts in preventing the crime of oil palm theft in Ujung Batu District from a criminological perspective. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation involving law enforcement officers and local communities. The theoretical framework used is situational crime prevention, which emphasizes reducing opportunities for crime through the management of situations and environments. The findings indicate that preventive efforts are carried out through routine patrols, community outreach, increased environmental supervision, and the implementation of community policing. Meanwhile, repressive efforts are conducted through legal actions against offenders in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code. However, several obstacles remain, such as low legal awareness among the community and limited resources of law enforcement agencies. Therefore, synergy between law enforcement and the community is needed to improve the effectiveness of preventing oil palm theft crimes.
