Abstract

This study aims to uncover the framing created by the online media outlet Kompas.com regarding the news coverage of a former Ngada police chief who sexually abused a minor. Kompas.com reported that the former Ngada police chief, Adjunct Commissioner Fajar Widyadharma Lukman, unknowingly used drugs and asked others to bring him a minor to abuse. This behavior is in stark contrast to his profession as a police officer.Online media today can disseminate information and news very quickly. Furthermore, online media can frame and shape events and issues into news stories according to their ideology and perspective. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with Robert N. Entman's framing analysis approach, which has four elements of analysis: Define Problems, Diagnose Causes, Make Moral Judgments, and Treatment Recommendations. The author used documentation for data collection, while data analysis was based on Robert N. Entman's model. The research data came from six news articles collected from the online media Kompas.com between May and July 2025.The results of this study indicate that Kompas.com presented its news in a balanced and impartial manner. The former police chief involved in the case was a constant topic of discussion, and the victim and child protection officers considered the future impact, as updated by Kompas.com and various sources featured in the news.
