Abstract

This study aims to understand the depiction of peer pressure among adolescent in school and to observe the differences based on gender and age. The research uses a descriptive quantitative method with a sample size of 215 junior high school students selected through simple random sampling technique. The research instrument is a peer pressure scale that has been pilot- tested before the study. Data analysis is conducted using descriptive statistical techniques. The results indicate that most adolescent fall into the moderate peer pressure category (43.3%) and high (24.7%). The aspect of popularity tend to moderate (37.7%), while the aspect of conformity. Is in the high category (46.0%). The difference test showed a significant difference based on gender, where female student (Mean = 45.22) had a higher level of pressure compared to male students ( Mean = 42.96). Meanwhile, no significant difference was found based on age, although descriptively, teenagers aged 14-15 experienced moderate to high pressure more frequently. These findings emphasize that peer pressure is an important part of adolescent social dynamics, which can have both positive and negative efferects on their self-development. There fore, the role of schools, teachers, and parents is necessary to provide guidance so that teenagers can manage the influence of peers wisely
