Abstract

This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution pattern and service coverage of Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) Bus Corridor 01 using Network Analysis within a Geographic Information System (GIS). The main issues addressed in this research include the uneven distribution of bus stops and the limited service reach to residential areas and urban activity centers along the corridor. The analysis was conducted on 55 bus stops located along the Pandau Permai–Sudirman route, focusing on spatial distribution patterns, service coverage radius based on distance and walking time, and the determination of optimal stop locations through a location-allocation approach. The Nearest Neighbor Analysis results show that the distribution of bus stops along Corridor 01 is clustered, with a Nearest Neighbor Ratio of 0.339616, a z-score of −9.369332, and a p-value of 0.000000, indicating a concentration of stops around specific activity centers. The service coverage analysis using a 400– 800 meter radius, 5–10 minutes of walking time, and location-allocation further reveals that several stops are located too close to one another, particularly in the city center, resulting in an over-serving condition. The recommendations proposed include relocating bus stops that are too closely spaced in the central urban area and adding new stops in underserved residential zones to improve the quality and equity of TMP Corridor 01 services. This arrangement is expected to expand service coverage, enhance accessibility, and support the effectiveness of the public transportation system in Pekanbaru City.
