Abstract

The rapid development of tourism in Indonesia, including in Riau Province, significantly influences the social and economic lives of local communities. The impact of tourism on the social and economic characteristics of the community in the Kasang Kulim Tourist Area, Kubang Jaya Village, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency, is the subject of this research. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of tourism on the social and economic characteristics of the local community in the Kasang Kulim Tourist Area, Kubang Jaya Village, Riau, along with the rapid development of the tourism sector in Indonesia. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 388 respondents out of a total of 12,505 Family Heads, supported by secondary data from official sources. Data analysis involved validity tests, reliability tests, and the use of the Likert Scale to measure both positive and negative impacts. The positive impact on economic conditions is at a percentage of 79.38%, which is the opening of new job opportunities, with a mean value of 3.88. The negative impact on the community's economic conditions is at a percentage of 74.69%, which is the increase in the price of local goods and basic necessities, with a mean value of 3.89."
