Abstract
ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is an electronic device that regulates the operations of an internal combustion engine. However, with technological advancements, automotive enthusiasts often desire to enhance the performance of their motorcycle engines beyond standard conditions. One effective way to improve engine performance is through ECU tuning. Therefore, further analysis is needed to understand the impact of various ECU tuning parameters on the performance of a Honda Sonic 150 CC motorcycle engine. This study aims to determine the influence of different ECU tuning variations on the performance of a Honda Sonic 150 CC motorcycle engine, and to identify the ECU tuning variation that yields the best engine performance for the Honda Sonic 150 CC. The research methodology involves analyzing ECU operational data using the Juken 5 ID software from Bintang Racing Team (BRT). The ECU tuning variations used in this study include: fuel correction variations, Juken 5 default settings, injector timing variations, ignition timing variations, and basemap variations. The findings indicate that ECU tuning variations significantly impact the performance of the Honda Sonic 150 CC motorcycle engine. The best results were achieved with the fuel correction variation for ECU tuning, yielding the highest values for power (16.3 HP), torque (12.80 Nm), and mean effective pressure (0.001 Pa). This was accompanied by the most effective fuel consumption at 31.924 kg/hour, followed by a specific fuel consumption of 2.646 kg/kWh, and a thermal efficiency of 30.6%. The volumetric efficiency remained constant at 85%, as there were no changes to the stroke volume of the Honda Sonic 150 CC motorcycle.
