Abstract

Dumai - Lubuk Gaung - Batu Teritip road section is a provincial road with high traffic volume and is frequently traversed by vehicles with axle loads exceeding the recommended tonnage capacity. This condition causes Dumai - Lubuk Gaung - Batu Teritip road section to experience damage. To assess the pavement damage condition, an evaluation method is needed that can provide a quantitative assessment of the pavement distress on Dumai - Lubuk Gaung - Batu Teritip road section. One method that has been widely used internationally is the Pavement Condition Index (PCI). The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) is a system for assessing pavement conditions based on the type, severity, and extent of damage, with a range from 0 to 100, classifying road conditions from very good to completely failed. The study was conducted on Dumai – Lubuk Gaung – Batu Teritip Road Section (STA 03+750 – STA 04+750), Sungai Sembilan District, Dumai City, Riau Province. The study results indicate that the types of damage occurring on Dumai - Lubuk Gaung - Batu Teritip road section (STA 03+750 – STA 04+750) include Corner Break, Divided Slab, Faulting, Joint Seal Damage, Lane/Shoulder Off, Linear Cracking, Polished Aggregate, Popouts, Pumping, Punchout, Scaling, Shrinkage Cracks, Spalling Corner, and Spalling Joint. The overall Pavement Condition Index (PCI) value for Dumai - Lubuk Gaung - Batu Teritip road section (STA 03+750 – STA 04+750) reached 57.75, which is categorized as Fair with the dominant type of damage being Linear Cracking. Based on the average PCI value, the recommended action for this section of the road is structural improvement.
