Abstract

Hospitals are facilities with high consumption of energy, water, and materials, which can significantly impact the environment. The implementation of green building principles is therefore essential to enhance resource efficiency and support sustainable development. The major objective of this study is to comprehensively measure and evaluate the efficiency of energy, water, and materials in the Wira Bima Military Hospital Building, Riau Province, using EDGE 3.0.0 software, and to determine whether these three aspects meet the minimum efficiency requirement of 20% as stipulated by EDGE standards. Specifically, this research also aims to analyze the application of green building concepts in the building and provide recommendations for improvement if any aspects are found to be suboptimal. The research adopts a quantitative approach through simulations conducted with the EDGE 3.0.0 application using secondary data, including as-built drawings, a 3D SketchUp model, and supporting technical documents. All building design parameters were input into the EDGE system to generate efficiency calculations based on the building’s existing condition. The results show that the Wira Bima Military Hospital achieved an energy efficiency of 45.92%, water efficiency of 22.19%, and material efficiency of 40.00%. These values exceed the minimum thresholds set by EDGE, indicating that the building successfully qualifies for EDGE certification. The study concludes that the hospital building has effectively implemented green building principles. It is recommended that the current efficiency strategies be maintained and that periodic evaluations be conducted to ensure continuous improvement in sustainability performance.
