Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between students' perceptions of teacher competence and their motivation to learn Arabic at MTs Ummul Quro Pekanbaru. This was a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The population of the study was all students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ummul Quro Pekanbaru in the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample was taken by using a random sampling technique, with a total sample size of 193 students. The data collection technique of the study was a questionnaire that had been tested for its validity and reliability. The data analysis was tested through the Product Moment correlation test and performed by SPSS. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between students' perceptions of teacher competence and their motivation to learn Arabic at MTs Ummul Quro Pekanbaru. The correlation coefficient (r) was [r-value], with a significance level (p) of [p-value] (p < 0.05). This indicated that the more positive students' perceptions of teacher competence, the higher their motivation to learn Arabic.
