Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the driving factors behind the conversion to a Shariabased system in the Gading Berlian Cooperative located in Gading Permai Village, Kampar Kiri Hilir District, Kampar Regency. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicated several main factors that encouraged the conversion: the increasing awareness of cooperative members regarding the importance of Sharia principles, the desire to avoid interest-based transactions, and the influence of religious leaders and community support. In addition, the cooperative's internal commitment to implementing Islamic values in financial practices also played a significant role. The results of this study were expected to contribute to the development of Sharia-based cooperatives in rural areas and to provide insights for policymakers in supporting such transformations.
