Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students at school. In the learning process, students must have the drive or motivation to achieve their learning goals through teaching and learning activities. This situation requires teachers to choose appropriate learning methods so that the students can more easily understand the material. One method considered relevant is Contextual teaching and learning (CTL) because it emphasizes the relationship between subject matter and students' real-life contexts. The problem formulation of the study was how the CTL method influenced student learning outcomes at MTs Al-Fahmu Littahfidz Wa Ta'dib Tambang. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of CTL method on student learning outcomes at the madrasah. This was a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The study population consisted of 50 students in grades VII and VIII. The sampling technique of the study was saturated sampling, so the entire population was taken as the sample. The data collection techniques of the study were questionnaires and documentation. The results of the study showed that the CTL method had an influence on student learning outcomes. Variable X, the influence of CTL, explained variable Y, the learning outcomes, by 48.7% and was categorized as "quite strong." The remaining 51.3% was influenced by other factors outside the study. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination was 0.698, or 69.8%, it indicated that there was a strong relationship between the implementation of CTL method and the improvement in student learning outcomes at MTs Al-Fahmu Littahfidz Wa Ta'dib Tambang.
