Abstract

This research was motivated by the low cognitive learning outcomes of students, as they experienced difficulties in expressing ideas both orally and in writing, understanding the material, elaborating ideas in written form, and lacking confidence when presenting in class. The study aimed to examine the level of verbal-linguistic intelligence of students at Hasanah Plus Skills Islamic Senior High School Pekanbaru, their learning outcomes, and the influence of verballinguistic intelligence on learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The population consisted of all students, while the sample comprised 30 students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire to measure verbal-linguistic intelligence and an objective test to assess learning outcomes. The findings indicated that students’ verbal-linguistic intelligence ranged from moderate to high (with an average score of 43.4 out of 56), although some students were categorized as low. The average learning outcome score was 76.67, with most students categorized as moderate to good. Regression analysis showed that verballinguistic intelligence did not have a significant influence on learning outcomes (Sig. > 0.05). These findings suggested that verbal-linguistic intelligence was not the sole factor influencing students’ learning outcomes.
