Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the strategy of the Provincial General Election Commission in increasing public participation in the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau in 2024. To determine the obstacles or constraints in the implementation of regional head elections with public participation in Pekanbaru City. Political strategy is a plan for action, where the preparation and implementation of the strategy affect the success or failure of the strategy in the end. The theory used is the strategy theory according to Peter Schroder To obtain answers to the problems taken and in accordance with the objectives of this study, the type of research that is considered appropriate is descriptive research using Qualitative research methods. This Offensive Strategy includes three main focuses, namely: This Defensive Strategy includes three main focuses, namely: Strengthening Socialization and Voter Education The Riau Provincial KPU continues to strengthen socialization and voter education activities as the main step in maintaining public participation. Collaboration and Partnership The Riau Provincial KPU realizes that successful election implementation cannot be done independently. Evaluation and Monitoring of Participation As part of the defensive strategy, the Riau Provincial KPU routinely evaluates and monitors the level of voter participation at each stage. This evaluation was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the socialization program, identify obstacles in the field, and find improvement solutions for the next stage.
