Abstract
This study aims to analyze students’ learning difficulties in the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) among third-grade students at SDN 193 Pekanbaru. The research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, in which data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of the third-grade teacher, several students, and selected parents using purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles & Huberman technique, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students’ learning difficulties are influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include low learning motivation, negative attitudes toward the IPAS subject, lack of interest, and suboptimal health conditions that hinder concentration. Meanwhile, external factors involve limited family support, teacher-centered learning methods dominated by lecturing, insufficient learning media, and minimal parental involvement in the learning process. In conclusion, the learning difficulties in IPAS among third-grade students at SDN 193 Pekanbaru are not only caused by individual student factors but also by a learning environment that has not fully supported their needs.
