Abstract

his study investigates the effect of the Role Playing learning model on student activeness in Social Studies for fifth-grade students at SDN 141 Pekanbaru. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, namely the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, was employed with a sample of 31 students from class VA, while instrument trials were conducted with 23 students from class VB. The research instruments included a student activeness questionnaire using a Likert scale and observation sheets on teacher and student activities assessed with a Guttman scale. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, paired sample t-test, simple linear regression, and coefficient of determination with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results showed an increase in the average student activeness score from 51.61 (pretest) to 74.29 (posttest), with a difference of 22.65 points. The paired sample t-test indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, demonstrating a significant difference before and after the implementation of Role Playing. Simple linear regression analysis also yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, confirming the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis, with the Role Playing model contributing 90.7% to the increase in student activeness, while 9.3% was influenced by other factors. These findings suggest that the Role Playing model significantly enhances student activeness by fostering interactive learning, encouraging active participation, and making Social Studies learning more meaningful.
