Abstract
SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kerinci is one of the senior high schools located in Pelalawan Regency. The learning process regarding petroleum formation is still delivered conventionally through textbooks and static images, making it difficult for students to understand the abstract concepts that cannot be directly observed. Based on this issue, an educational media was designed using Augmented Reality (AR) technology to help students understand the petroleum formation process visually and interactively. This Android-based application displays 3D objects using a markerless approach, which eliminates the need for specific markers to show the content. The 3D objects were created using Blender, and the application was developed with Unity software and the ARCore SDK library. AR technology enables realistic illustrations and delivers deeper, more engaging, and easier-tounderstand learning content. Test results showed that the 3D objects could appear at a minimum distance of 30 cm, and the application could function both indoors and outdoors, provided the surface is textured and has lighting intensity above 10 lux. Based on testing involving 25 student respondents, the display accuracy reached 90,33%, indicating that the application is feasible and effective to be implemented as an alternative learning medium in schools.
