Abstract

The advancement of Augmented Reality (AR) technology offers innovative ways to enhance visitors’ tourism experiences and create interactive experiences that inspire and reinforce the values of natural resource conservation to protect the environment and bring tourism destinations to life. Augmented Reality also provides convenience for visitors in improving travel planning and enjoying the novelty of tourist attractions in the city of Pekanbaru. Through the use of Augmented Reality technology and the camera capabilities of Android devices, this project aims to create more engaging and interactive introduction materials. The Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) is the development approach used in this research. The Augmented Reality-based tourism guide application received positive responses to each statement provided, with an average questionnaire score percentage of 80%. Based on the results of the research on the Augmented Reality-based tourism guide application, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. The method used in this research is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle. 2. The 3D objects were created using Blender, while the application was developed using Unity, and the SDK used for displaying markerless AR is ARCore. 3. Object testing showed responsiveness under moderate to strong lighting conditions, with the required light intensity being above 11 lux. The minimum distance for detection is 100 cm, and the tracking surface must have diverse patterns or color textures. 4. User testing was conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method with 30 respondents, consisting of 11 statements, and achieved an average questionnaire score percentage of 80%.
