Abstract

Running is one of the most popular sports due to its simplicity, accessibility, and numerous health benefits. However, many beginner and intermediate runners struggle to create training plans that align with their physical capabilities and running goals, which may lead to overtraining or injury. To address this issue, a Decision Support System (DSS) was developed to recommend personalized running training plans based on individual performance data. The system was built using Power Platform, consisting of Power Apps for user interface, Power Automate for process automation, and Excel Online as the data storage. The method used in this research is Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), a weighted sum approach used to process criteria such as weekly distance, average pace, training frequency, and running objectives including 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, Get Fit, Performance Boost, and Weight Loss. The system was tested using Black Box Testing and validated through questionnaires distributed to five active runners. The results showed that the system provided adaptive, personalized, and relevant training recommendations based on runners’ performance. Additionally, user validation indicated an 88% satisfaction rate, confirming that the system is feasible to be implemented as a practical tool for planning effective and efficient running workouts.
