Abstract

he evolution of digital technology has transformed how society accesses and reads books, leading to a decline in the appeal of conventional bookstores. This research aims to develop a web-based online bookstore utilizing Laravel 11, enabling users to digitally purchase, read, and sell e-books. The methodology employed is software engineering with a waterfall approach, encompassing the phases of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The primary contributions of this research are the self-contained development of the online bookstore's functional features using the Laravel Framework, without reliance on an external frontend framework, and the integration of e-book sales and reading functionalities within a single platform. The result of this research is a functionally valid online bookstore system. Black-box testing has confirmed that all core process flows—from e-book management and search to transaction completion via the Midtrans payment gateway—operate as designed without any blocking errors. This system is proven to provide an optimal interface for users to search, purchase, read, and sell e-books.
