Abstract

The livestock industry, particularly in the layer poultry sector, plays an important role in meeting the food needs of society, especially by providing eggs as source of protein. In large-scale production, farmers face challenges in manually sorting and counting eggs, which is time-consuming, takes a lot of time, and prone to human error. This manual process often leads to inaccuracies in classifying eggs based on weight and errors in counting the number of eggs produced. With the advancement of technology, particularly in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT), automation in production processes has become easier and more efficient. The implementation of IoT in livestock farming can help improve productivity and accuracy. One example of its application is an automatic egg sorting and counting system based on weight, which utilizes sensor technology and internet connectivity to sort eggs according to their weight and automatically count the number of eggs. In the development of IoT-based egg sorting systems, a device is designed to sort and count chicken eggs using a Load Cell sensor to measure the egg’s weight and an IR Proximity sensor to detect the presence of the egg. With this system, eggs can be measured and sorted automatically based on weight categories, such as large and small eggs. The results of the counting and sorting processes can then be monitored in real-time via the internet. This research develops an egg sorting system that uses a conveyor to transport eggs after weighing, a servo motor to separate large and small eggs, and Telegram to control the power of the device. Through the Internet of Things (IoT) service, the egg sorter and counter based on weight will store data on the web to determine the quantity based on egg weight and control the power of the device through Telegram for the farmer. The application of this technology can serve as an alternative solution for weight-based egg sorting and counting devices
