Abstract
Indonesia, as one of the largest palm oil producers in the world, generates a significant amount of solid waste, including empty fruit bunches (EFB) or Tangkos. This waste is often underutilized and can cause environmental pollution. This study aims to evaluate the performance of bio briquettes made from Tangkos as an environmentally friendly alternative fuel. The briquette production process includes drying, grinding, mixing with natural binders, molding, and quality testing. The performance parameters tested include calorific value, moisture content, ash content, density, burning rate, and gas emissions. The test results show that bio briquettes made from Tangkos have a relatively high calorific value, low moisture and ash content, and produce more environmentally friendly emissions compared to fossil fuels. Therefore, Tangkos- based bio briquettes have the potential to become an efficient and sustainable source of renewable energy. This research is expected to contribute to the development of alternative energy and the optimal utilization of palm oil industry waste.
