Abstract

Neutron porosity is a very useful tool in the oil and gas industry for understanding the physical properties of subsurface formations and predicting the success of hydrocarbon exploration and production. Neutron porosity is often used in conjunction with other logging methods, such as density porosity or resistivity logs, to provide a more accurate and comprehensive picture of the physical properties of rock formations and hydrocarbon content. Petrophysical analysis is a crucial study that bridges the fields of geophysics and reservoir engineering. The petrophysical analysis in this study includes well log data correction, log data interpretation analysis, porosity and permeability calculations, cut-off parameter determination, and uncertainty analysis. Well log data correction is very important as it affects log readings, particularly in intervals that have washout zones or badholes. Therefore, in this study, synthetic NPHI (Neutron Porosity) logs were created and corrected for wells that did not have such log data, in order to achieve more accurate petrophysical interpretations. This research was conducted using geological software, and the results show that gamma ray normalization implementation was successfully carried out on four wells, namely HIK-001, HIK-002, HIK-003, and HIK-004, with similar range values for each well. The correlation coefficient obtained from the NPHI log correction was 0.949872 or 94%, indicating a high level of accuracy and confirming that the correction was successfully performed.
