Abstract

The construction of a construction project is a development that often faces various problems, both from the planning process to the implementation process, it is almost always certain that a construction project development will always experience several obstacles and problems. Problems that occur in projects often take time to resolve so that they can cause a delay. Not only delays, the existence of waste time (wasting time) in a construction project is generally caused by material waste. As happened in the construction project of the STAIN library building in Bengkalis Regency. This type of research is Quantitative Observational Analytics with a Cross Sectional research design which will be carried out from November 2024 to March 2025 at the Construction Site of the STAIN Library Building in Bengkalis Regency located in Sungai Alam, Kec. In this study, the sampling technique used is probability sampling with the technique taken, namely simple random sampling. The results of the study showed that from a total of 7 statement variables based on the measurement of the likert scale of the factors causing waste time, 6 subvariables were obtained for waste defect, 11 subvariables for waste overproduction, 10 subvariables for waste waiting, 8 subvariables for waste overprocessing, 8 subvariables for waste motion, and 6 subvariables for waste inventory. The highest ranking of factors causing waste is material that comes to the site not in accordance with quality standards with a value (гcalculus) of 0.685, this happens due to several reasons such as ordering errors, poor quality of materials, improper procurement processes, errors in delivery and external factors such as changes in weather or environmental conditions can affect the quality of materials during delivery or storage. Meanwhile, the lowest ranking factor causing waste time is that material retrieval is often hampered with a value (calculation) of 0.381. The solutions carried out in reducing time waste in the construction project of the STAIN Library Building in Bengkalis Regency are conducting material quality checks before delivery and at the project site, improving quality control in the material procurement process, using trusted and reputable suppliers and conducting training and supervision of workers to ensure that materials are handled correctly.
