Abstract

The need for water is increasing due to the increasing human population, while water sources are few due to the lack of water catchment areas. Optimizing water use and water catchment source areas needs to be done to preserve water. One way to realize this idea is to apply the concept of rainwater harvesting. There are several ways to use rainwater, one of which is using the cistern method. A cistern is a reservoir that collects rainwater and then collects it to be used as a water source. The research method used is a descriptive method by collecting secondary data in the form of rainfall data. Primary data was obtained through field observations with the aim of obtaining roof conditions. The results of this research show that the potential for rainwater to be used as clean water on a household scale according to rainfall calculation stations from 2019 to 2023 has an average annual rainfall of 2665 mm/year. Rain is a mainstay with an 80% chance of rain, namely 1,9431 mm/month with an average monthly water availability of 11.410 m 3 /month. The water requirement for a household scale with 5 occupants is 109.5 m 3 /year. The rainwater harvesting installation used as a rainwater harvesting tool uses reinforced concrete with appropriate placement, namely below the ground surface with a size of 1,5 m x 1,5 m x 1m to meet 109.5 m water needs during the dry season. 3
