Abstract

The increasing energy demand urges the development of alternative energy sources that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. Solar energy is one of the most promising solutions due to its abundant availability, especially in tropical regions like Pekanbaru. This study aims to design and implement a solar power system (PLTS) to operate a batik wax-removal machine used in the Serunai Melayu Riau batik small business. The machine requires 500 watts of power for 8 hours per day. The research method includes literature study, climate data analysis from BMKG, energy needs calculation, and the design of a solar panel system. The system components consist of two 500 Wp monocrystalline solar panels, one 12V 200Ah VRLA battery, one 1000 VA pure sine wave inverter, and one 60A MPPT solar charge controller. The results demonstrate that the designed system efficiently supplies the required energy, reduces dependency on the national electricity grid (PLN), and lowers operational costs. This innovation not only supports the energy independence of SMEs but also contributes to environmental sustainability through the use of clean energy.
