Abstract

Palm oil palm fronds and leaves have potential waste that can be used as animal feed. Palm oil palm fronds and leaves contain 47.02% dry matter, 6.06% crude protein, and 34.58% crude fiber so that their nutritional value can be used as animal feed for livestock. The method in this research uses a literature review to evaluate, summarize, and synthesize literature relevant to the research topic. The oil palm frond shredding machine uses a diesel engine with a power of 182 HP or 136 kW. The knife on this oil palm frond shredding machine consists of 3 rows with a total of 54 pieces. On one side, it is sharpened to a height of 25 mm with a sharpness angle of 25°. This shredding machine is designed to produce pieces of oil palm fronds with the right size for compost fertilizer raw materials. With a blade rotation of 1900 RPM, the machine is able to shred oil palm fronds efficiently and quickly. The machine is equipped with a design that pays attention to safety aspects for operators. A stable frame and a well-installed drive system help reduce the risk of accidents during operation.
