Abstract

This research aims to utilize Polypropylene (PP) plastic waste and rice husk ash (RHA) as eco-friendly base materials for composite block production. Three composition variations were tested: 80% PP : 20% RHA, 70% PP : 30% RHA, and 60% PP : 40% RHA. The parameters tested include wear resistance, compressive strength, and microstructure. Wear test results show that higher RHA content increases specific wear values, with the best performance achieved at 80% PP : 20% RHA (0.000194480 mm³/kg·m). The highest compressive strength, 21.06 MPa, also occurred at this composition, categorized as grade B under SNI 03-0691-1996. SEM analysis revealed that increasing RHA content led to more voids in the microstructure. This study demonstrates that plastic waste and rice husk ash can be effectively used as alternative materials for environmentally friendly and cost-efficient paving blocks.
