Abstract
Proppant is one of the critical parameters in the success of hydraulic fracturing in the oil and gas industry. There are two main types of proppants: natural and ceramic, both of which must meet the API 19C standard, which includes parameters such as Roundness & Sphericity, Acid Solubility, Bulk Density, Turbidity, and Crush Resistance. Although natural proppants are more cost-effective, they often exhibit low crush resistance. This study aims to evaluate the potential of silica minerals from Rupat Island as natural proppants by analyzing their compliance with the API 19C parameters. Additionally, modifications using polyester resin were applied to improve the performance of the proppants. The results indicate that the modified silica minerals from Rupat Island have the potential to be used as proppants in accordance with API 19C standards.
