Abstract
Building construction projects are risky activities. One of the risks involved is workplace accidents. Risks in construction projects cannot be eliminated, but they can be minimized or transferred from one party to another. To reduce and prevent these risks, effective risk management is required. Risk management is the systematic application of management policies to identify hazards, analyze, evaluate, address, and monitor hazards, and review risks. The objective of this study is to identify workplace accident risks and their impacts, determine dominant risks, and recommend appropriate risk control measures. The method used to achieve the predetermined objectives was the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) approach. The FMEA method is a systematic technique for identifying and preventing risks before they occur. There were 15 respondents who contributed to this study. The FMEA failure process evaluation was conducted using three indicators, namely Severity (S), Occurrence (O), and Detection (D). To determine the dominant risk value, the three indicators were multiplied to produce the RPN (Risk Priority Number). The results of the study indicate that there are four risk variables identified with a total of 20 valid indicators. The analysis results indicate that the dominant risks in this study are represented by 13 risk indicators, with 10 of the most significant indicators being: Workers not using PPE and being careless, Workers not using PPE, Workers not using earplugs, Worker negligence, Workers being careless, workers not concentrating, workers not using PPE, workers not concentrating), scattered formwork materials in the work area, and scaffolding installation not in accordance with SOP/inappropriate scaffolding. The dominant risk control recommendations that can be provided to minimize existing risks are: Use of PPE when working at heights, strict supervision to ensure PPE is properly worn, conducting briefings/instructions before starting work to remind workers to be more careful, providing PPE for workers, Scheduling regular breaks, prohibiting workers from working if procedures are not followed, scheduling regular breaks for workers, reminding workers to stay focused, and regularly and consistently cleaning the work area.
