Abstract

This study aims to describe, analyze, and explore how infrastructure-related information needs are fulfilled through Instagram for followers of the @ssc_riau account. The theoretical framework of this research is based on the theory of meeting information needs by Elihu Katz, Jay G. Blumer, and Michael Gurevitch, which categorizes need fulfillment into four types: (1) Information Needs, (2) Personal Identity Needs, (3) Social Integration Needs, and (4) Entertainment Needs. This study employed a qualitative research method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The validity of the data was ensured through the use of source triangulation. Five informants were selected based on specific criteria determined by the researcher. The findings indicate that the @ssc_riau Instagram account helps followers stay informed about infrastructure developments in Riau Province, shapes their perceptions, fosters interaction among followers, and offers visually appealing content. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the @ssc_riau account plays a significant role in fulfilling the diverse information needs of its followers, particularly concerning infrastructure in Riau Province.
