Abstract

Psychological well-being is a condition in which individuals are able to function optimally in their lives, encompassing self-acceptance, positive relationships with others, autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and personal growth. This study aims to examine the relationship between the intensity of viewing positive social media content and psychological well-being among young adults. The sample consisted of 200 individuals aged 18–25 years, selected using a simple random sampling technique. The instrument used to measure psychological well- being was Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale, while the intensity of viewing positive social media content was measured using the Exposure to Positive Social Media Content Scale. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed a significant negative relationship between the intensity of viewing positive social media content and psychological well-being (β = -0.954; p < 0.05). The R square value of 0.911 indicates that the intensity of viewing positive social media content contributes 91.1% to psychological well-being. Therefore, it can be concluded that the higher the intensity of viewing positive social media content, the lower the level of psychological well-being.
