Abstract

This study aims to explore how mothers apply interpersonal communication to address juvenile delinquency in Sialang Kayu Batu Village. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving five mothers and five adolescents who had previously engaged in delinquent behavior. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that interpersonal communication between mothers and children is not yet fully optimal, particularly in openness and equality aspects. Nevertheless, some mothers have implemented empathy, support, and positive attitudes to foster emotional closeness and guide their children toward better behavior. The study recommends increasing the intensity of communication and consistently applying interpersonal communication principles to reduce juvenile delinquency rates in the community.
