Abstract

The fish product industry has become a priority program in national development. This sector has proven to be able to survive and have strong competitiveness. One of the fishery product industries that has the potential to be developed at this time is the processing of smoked fish in Tanjung Medan Village. However, the supply of raw materials from fishermen's catches continues to decrease along with decreased fish production due to deteriorating lake water quality. This has a significant impact on reducing the number of entrepreneurs. Thus, it is necessary to conduct a business feasibility study to assess whether this business is profitable and sustainable. This study aims to determine the business profile and analyze the feasibility of non-financial aspects, financial aspects and the sensitivity of decreased production and increased production costs to business feasibility. The research was conducted in Tanjung Medan Village, Tanjung Medan District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The research method used is a survey method. Data was collected from June to July 2022 and analyzed descriptively using 4 investment criteria. The results of the study show that non-financially the Salai Fish Business is feasible to run and develop. This is supported by marketing aspects which include good quality products, competitive prices, strategic place (distribution) and promotions that can support business continuity. From the technical and production aspects, namely having a business location, production scale, equipment selection and layout arrangement that can support the smoked fish production process, so that the smoked fish production can run well. From the aspect of management and organization where the division of tasks is clear, so that business management runs well. Judging from the legal, social and economic aspects as well as environmental aspects, the smoked fish business in Tanjung Medan Village is said to be not feasible. Meanwhile, from a financial aspect, this business is feasible. All results of the analysis of investment criteria show a positive value, namely an NPV of IDR 69,000,173; IRR 41.57%; Net B/C Ratio 2.28; and Payback Period for 3 years 1 month. Meanwhile, the results of the sensitivity analysis show that if there is a 10% reduction in production, it will have a negative impact on business feasibility. However, if there is an increase in production costs of 12%, this business is still feasible to run.
